Ford Explorer History:
The 1991 Ford Explorer became America 's top-selling sport-utility vehicle, despite many newmodel problems. When released the Ford Explorer was a new design. It's rivals, the Chevrolet S10 Blazer and GMC Jimmy, at the time were nearly a 10yrs old.
The Explorer's success was relatively weak foreign competition.
All three brands offered 4door versions in 1991, the Explorer started to take the lead.
In 1995 an available V8 and other changes over the next six years would keep Explorer as America 's number one SUV. The rival Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmy were also redesigned for 1995.
With the Ford Explorer being the number one SUV in America for over a ten years there is certainly no one in the U.S. who is not familiar with this vehicle.

(Unknown) 7/11/08 10:46 PM First off...the running board arrived packed like it will survive a category 3 hurricane. Then i immediately started to install the damn thing when i realized that this requires reading the manual. But then again i do that everytime i have to assemble something (you also know who you are). It actually is fairly easy to install.Unlike the guy that did it in 1 hour,it took me 3 hours coz it was so freakin hot in my garage.I live in the desert by the way. RBW ...your price and service are awesome.Ill defintely be coming back.Thanks.
